My run

I stayed up waaaaaaaay too late last night, so I struggled to get my lazy tush out of bed today. I had planned on running a long route today with my running buddy Marnie, but I was certain that she had jumped out of bed earlier and gotten finished with her workout before I had even rolled out of bed. Luckily for me when I gave her a call she was feeling as sluggish as me and we were able to run together.

We planned to run 6.2 miles and depending on how we felt possibly add 2.8 miles on. Well, after the 6.2 Marnie's knee was starting to bother her so she called it quits, but I continued on. Amazingly I was able to complete the whole 9 without much trouble. I'm so thrilled!!!! Finally a long run without much agony during or after the run. I'm now feeling more and more optimistic about the possibility of actually finishing the half marathon next month. Yay me!

Trying to get into the blogging groove

I'm struggling with blogging. I love reading other peoples blogs. I'm intrigued with so many different topics and spend hours upon hours reading blogs that range from fashion/beauty to marathon training to various fatal medical conditions. I simply love learning and enjoy reading other peoples perspectives or experiences dealing with all aspects of life. In addition, I do have a need for a written outlet about my thoughts and ideas in general, but struggle with maintaining a blog. I'm not sure why.

We spent part of our Spring Break at Sunriver, Ore. My family, along with my sister's family and my mom joined us for five days of fun in the snow. We knew there was a possibility of snow, but I didn't think we would have so much accumulation. The kids spent each day playing in the fluffy white stuff digging snow caves, throwing snow balls and sledding down the little hill by the condo. It was fun for them and wonderful for me. My kids are finally old enough that they didn't need to have me standing out there watching them, or helping them for that matter. I could see them outside the window while sipping my hot cocoa and reading my book. It really was a relaxing vacation.

I'm also training for the Hippie Chick Half coming up in just a few short weeks. I've been struggling with a number of injuries during the training and it has been getting me down. I'm almost positive I'm going to have to settle with doing just the quarter marathon. My left knee is just not cooperating especially after it reaches about mile eight. It screams in agony at that point. Sigh. Old age is simply catching up with me. I've been icing, medicating, resting, stretching. Nothing is really working. All of my girlfriends are doing the half and I want to be doing that too! (Stomping feet) I'm going to do a longish run tomorrow and it should be telling. If it goes terrible then the quarter it will be.

Exhaustion

I've been knitting like a mad woman for the last month or so. Whipping out several pairs of pants in a weeks time. I remember the days when it would take me a good 10 days or so to make a single pair. I loathed knitting the legs because it felt like they took forever. These days I barely think about the time it takes to make the legs. No biggie. Well, last week I had a bit of an interruption in my knitting frenzy. My husband and I took a trip to Cancun Mexico. We had a fabulous time doing all sorts of tropical vacation activities. We arrived home late Sunday night and I feel like I am still trying to recover. The laundry was piled high. Cupboards bare. Dishes staring me in the face. And to top it off I still needed to finish a few items I wanted to stock Tuesday. Last night when Wes and I were watching another installment of ALIAS (our new obsession) I actually started to close my eyes while knitting. Just resting my eyeballs. I was just so tired.

Luckily I woke up this morning with much more energy and was able to finish these two items.

Maple Tree pants...

This colorway is so rich and interesting. I finished these pants for a customer yesterday. I even took a picture of the yarn close up so I could always remember how the yarn colors blended together.

Collab with Luxebaby

I made this nb/sm set to participate in a collaboration set with Jesse of Luxebaby. I really love making nb/sm pants because they knit up so fast and are so darn small and adorable. The yarn is BFL and the trim is Uruguay Merino.
